Part-Time Associate

Location: Ludington, Michigan
Hours: Part-time (flexible scheduling)
Compensation: Hourly + optional income from music lessons

Since 1981, we’ve been a pro music shop for musicians by musicians, proudly serving West Michigan and beyond as one of the largest independently owned instrument stores in the area. With over 40 years of experience, we’re a trusted provider of high-quality instruments and expert sound installations. Our mission is simple: help people find the gear that inspires them, and give them the time and attention they deserve. We believe in creating a welcoming space where all musicians—new or seasoned—can feel at home.

Position Overview:
We're looking for a friendly, knowledgeable, and music-loving individual to join our team part-time. This role involves working directly with customers, keeping the store organized, and helping shoppers find the right gear. If you're passionate about music and enjoy connecting with people, this could be a great fit!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and approachable manner

  • Help customers make informed decisions based on their needs and experience level

  • Operate the cash register and process sales

  • Restock shelves and maintain product displays

  • Keep the store clean, tidy, and inviting

  • Optionally, offer private music lessons through the store (instrument of your choice)

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledgeable in at least one instrument category: electric or acoustic guitars, pianos & keyboards, drums & percussion, sound equipment (PA systems, mixers, etc.)

  • Friendly, personable, and comfortable engaging with a diverse range of customers

  • Comfortable using a point-of-sale system (we’ll train you, don’t worry!)

  • Enthusiastic about helping others find the right gear

  • Reliable, organized, and willing to pitch in where needed

Bonus Points For:

  • Playing an instrument (or several!)

  • Having a broad knowledge of music and gear

  • Being eager to learn and grow in a retail/music environment

  • Contributing content to the store’s social media platforms (videos, tips, performances, etc.)
